Our readings take place at Hopleaf Bar, 5148 N. Clark St. in Chicago. We get started promptly at 7:30 pm in the upstairs lounge. Arrive early if you want a seat—but no earlier than 7:00 pm. Holly McDowell lived in Colorado, Georgia and South Carolina before discovering the magical city of Chicago. Now she can be spotted drinking glögg, searching for the world's best tapas bar, and writing in coffee shops all over the Windy City. Her current project is a digital series called King Solomon's Wives, a modern thriller about women alive today who descended from King Solomon's ancient harem. It's full of historical conspiracy and, well, harem sex. The series is interactive—meaning readers get to vote on the direction of the story. The first two episodes are available now, and episode three comes out October 15th.

Kyle S. Johnson lives in Dayton, Ohio, and drinks more coffee than should be humanly possible. He has taught English in South Korea, and has published numerous short stories in such places as Dark Faith, Where Thy Dark Eye Glances, and Pseudopod. He likes writing his own biographical information because it allows him to refer to himself in the third person like he's a professional wrestler.

The first record album that longtime Tuesday Funk co-host William Shunn ever bought was Feels So Good by Chuck Mangione. He picked it up for the well-known title track, but continues to play it today for the Side 2 opener, "Hide & Seek (Ready or Not Here I Come)," which you should go listen to right now.

A classically trained pianist, Bill dabbled with keyboards and composition as a teenager. He eventually went to work for N2K Entertainment, where he helped produce some of the earliest online concert webcasts, including live shows with The Cure, The Allman Brothers Band, and Mötley Crüe. Originally from Alaska, Noël Jones is a writer and former member of the 2000 National Poetry Slam Champion Team NYC-Urbana, featured in The New York Times and on NPR's "Infinite Mind," as well as at the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX. As a performance poet, Jones has toured internationally and was selected to be part of an all-woman tour introducing slam poetry to Denmark. She now lives in Chicago, and is excited to be investigating fiction as a new medium.

Laura Chavoen is a wanna-be geek, a data and meme junkie, and a scarf and bangle lover. In her role as a digital brand strategist, she creates social and digital programs for clients and drives innovation. In the past she executive-produced Scholastic's websites for kids, including Harry Potter and Clifford the Big Red Dog, and also helped manage Scholastic's non-profit scholarship program, The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

A former denizen of the Chicago club scene, Laura is an experienced world traveler who has run the Chicago and Boston Marathons and inline-skated across Holland. She married William Shunn at the Las Vegas Strip's Graceland Wedding Chapel in 2001, and they've lived in both New York City and Chicago. Their dog Ella is the world's most photogenic soft-coated wheaten terrier. Her collaboration with Bill in Glitter & Mayhem, "Subterraneans," is her first fiction publication.

Maurice Broaddus has written hundreds of short stories, essays, novellas, and articles. His dark fiction has been published in numerous magazines, anthologies, and web sites, including Asimov's Science Fiction, Cemetery Dance, Apex Magazine, and Weird Tales Magazine. He is the co-editor of the Dark Faith anthology series (Apex Books) and the author of the urban fantasy trilogy, Knights of Breton Court (Angry Robot Books).

He has been a teaching artist for over five years, teaching creative writing to students of all ages. He lives in Indianapolis with the "House of M" which includes the lovely Sally Jo ("Mommy") and two boys: Maurice the Second and Malcolm. Visit his site at MauriceBroaddus.com.
