At our September 3rd edition of Tuesday Funk, co-host William Shunn brought us what will probably have to be the final installment of his many missionary reminiscences, at long last spilling the beans about why he can't travel to Canada...

And if you enjoyed that, please join Bill tomorrow night, Tuesday, October 1st, 2013, at 7:30 pm upstairs at Hopleaf, for an evening of Glitter & Mayhem together with Laura Chavoen, James Kennedy, Noël Jones, Holly McDowell, and Maurice Broaddus & Kyle S. Johnson.

Meet Our Readers: Holly McDowell

Holly McDowell
Holly McDowell lived in Colorado, Georgia and South Carolina before discovering the magical city of Chicago. Now she can be spotted drinking glögg, searching for the world's best tapas bar, and writing in coffee shops all over the Windy City. Her current project is a digital series called King Solomon's Wives, a modern thriller about women alive today who descended from King Solomon's ancient harem. It's full of historical conspiracy and, well, harem sex. The series is interactive—meaning readers get to vote on the direction of the story. The first two episodes are available now, and episode three comes out October 15th.

Please join Holly and the rest of our glittery readers on Tuesday, October 1st, 2013, for an unforgettable evening of Glitter & Mayhem! The needle drops upstairs at Hopleaf at 7:30 pm. This 21-and-older event is free.

Meet Our Readers: Kyle S. Johnson

Kyle S. Johnson.jpg
Kyle S. Johnson lives in Dayton, Ohio, and drinks more coffee than should be humanly possible. He has taught English in South Korea, and has published numerous short stories in such places as Dark Faith, Where Thy Dark Eye Glances, and Pseudopod. He likes writing his own biographical information because it allows him to refer to himself in the third person like he's a professional wrestler.

Please join Kyle and the rest of our glittery readers on Tuesday, October 1st, 2013, for an unforgettable evening of Glitter & Mayhem! The needle drops upstairs at Hopleaf at 7:30 pm. This 21-and-older event is free.

Meet Our Readers: William Shunn

D. William Shunn

The first record album that longtime Tuesday Funk co-host William Shunn ever bought was Feels So Good by Chuck Mangione. He picked it up for the well-known title track, but continues to play it today for the Side 2 opener, "Hide & Seek (Ready or Not Here I Come)," which you should go listen to right now.

No, seriously, go listen to that track. Right now.

A classically trained pianist, Bill dabbled with keyboards and composition as a teenager. He eventually went to work for N2K Entertainment, where he helped produce some of the earliest online concert webcasts, including live shows with The Cure, The Allman Brothers Band, and Mötley Crüe. This is what the '80s sounded like from where he was standing:

At our September 3rd edition of Tuesday Funk, Norm Doucet brought us a charming and thought-provoking remembrance of childhood and military service, and it went just a bit like this...
