Interesting poll results so far. On the surface it seems odd that the 5-, 6-, and 7-digit folks are clustered pretty evenly, although there are (one would guess) 10 times as many 6's as 5's overall, and 100 times as many 7's as 5's. Maybe this is a reflection of a tendency that as LJ grows by an order of magnitude, the likelihood of friending someone who's been on longer drops by almost an order of magnitude? Bigger pool and all.

[info]darius, a 4-digit midget, is da man! And [info]paulmelko is our lone newest of the newbies.

So far.

Idiocracy found ... sort of

Remember when I was trying to track down screening locations for the new Mike Judge film, Idiocracy? Darel Jevens of the Chicago Sun-Times found one, liked the movie, and says this:

About 20 people were in the theater when I saw "Idiocracy." Just being able to track down the movie despite its stealthy release makes them more nimble-minded than every 26th century clod in the movie, as well as the Fox geniuses so certain that it couldn't be sold....

Chicago is one of only seven cities where "Idiocracy" can be seen. Fox execs are hoping you will skip it, so they can justify their certainty that it was doomed to failure and pat themselves on the back for burying it.

But you're too smart for that.  [full article]

Too bad New York still doesn't seem to be one of the cities on the list. I'd kind of like to buy a ticket to a Chicago screening just to protest the movie's marketing.

More useful travel hints

When you get back from a trip, check the mousetraps immediately. Don't wait a couple of days.

I waited a couple of days. One of the mousetraps, way back underneath a large piece of furniture, was, ahem, occupied. It had flipped over in the process of snapping, and said occupant was, er, stuck to the floor.

Let's just say that disposing of that little installation and cleaning up after it was not the most fun I've had in recent memory.

Well, at least we didn't have a roach bomb explode on us, like some of our fellow Astorians apparently did.
