True believers, we have nearly reached the end. Our final exhibit of the immersion is HOT THOUGHTS, released just over a month ago. HOT THOUGHTS debuted at #17 on the Billboard 200 on April 8. A week later it had fallen to #107, one spot below Eminem’s CURTAIN CALL: THE HITS, which is in its 334th week on the chart.

With the quiet departure of Eric Harvey, Spoon is back to a four-piece: Britt Daniel, Jim Eno, Rob Pope, and Alex Fischel. And, coming full circle, they’re back on their original label -- Matador -- for the first time since TELEPHONO.

Speaking of coming full circle, Britt Daniel had this to say to Consequence of Sound about the new album: “I think I would be surprised if we were sitting on the release date of our first record and somehow somebody played me this album. I would be very surprised. But sitting where I am now, it feels very natural. It seems like where we’ve been meaning to go. I’ve never been able to figure out how some things that I do capture the imagination of more people than others. It’s hard for me to know when that’s going to happen.”
