Calgary Herald: Missionary faces trial over hoax at airport - click to view - mousewheel to zoom
It was 30 years ago today that my trial over charges stemming from a false bomb threat got underway in Provincial Court in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. A kid who didn't want to be a missionary in the first place was now facing up to ten years in prison for trying to prevent another kid from no longer being a missionary. It was an upside-down world, and I was hanging on for dear life.

How I got there and what came after is the story told in my memoir, The Accidental Terrorist: Confessions of a Reluctant Missionary. In observance of the 30th anniversary of the events it chronicles, my publisher, Sinister Regard, is offering U.S. customers free shipping and huge discounts on signed editions of the book:

Hardcover: regularly $27.95 now $19.95

Trade paperback: regularly $15.95 now $11.95

I'll even personalize it for you, if you like. You can also get the ebook edition for only 99¢, or enter at Goodreads to win a free paperback copy! But hurry, supplies are limited. And I'm sure you're eager to find out whether or not I made it out alive.
