Check-in list redux

My check-in list got a little out of control today. It brought my web hosting service to its knees. I finally had to knuckle under and turn it off.

It's been a surreal day. I've been interviewed by reporters from the New York Times to People magazine. The emails keep pouring in, telling me what a wonderful thing my list was, how it brought them some comfort.

And still I didn't accomplish anything useful today. I worked on the list obsessively so I wouldn't have to deal with my own feelings of grief and terror. They're welling up now, and I'm going to have to deal with them somehow.
